i have a 3-v2 which i've had for 18 months. prints like a champ. now i am printing something new

half a tube, 3 in in diameter, 3 inches long
face down, it will hold the barrel of a kaleidoscope. this is just a test of the design
using a raft

it prints fine til the last 1/4 inch of height, barrel still not closed by an inch and then the head catches on the part and knocks it loose from the glass bed. oops

tried twice, fails the same place both times

i have printed rectangular things taller than this without problem.

now i can't get any print to work. i've had the hot end clogged, had to take apart to clear, i've fed 5 rolls of pla thru this machine without trouble.

i have migrated to direct drive and today replaced the extruder , loaded pla, got great flow, new tip
did the z offset check again, and mesh
started print but zoffset too low? what? i just did that at full temp?

now pla wont feed again, extruder skipping, chunk chunk chunk, digging a gouge in pla.

what is going on? did my hotend die? it says its at 210 (pla is 190-230). its been at that temp for 5 mins as i did the zoffset check (piece of paper test) its been -2.75 for the whole time. now wants -3.60????

i flashed new firmware 25 prints ago. nothing else has changed. same location. using octoprint, same pla. just switched rolls of pla, wont purge, extruder skipping, chunk....

well, maybe ive resolved this. i redid the filament load, and got good flow. lets print. got an overheat alarm and printer turned off.

power back on, start print agsin, chink a chunk at the extruder? what???!!!

the z-offset was -4.41, vs normal at -2.76??? but i saved that on last config. anyhow reset it live back to -2.76, and its printing happily!
so chuck a chunk was caused by the tip being blocked by being jammed into the bed surface..

down printed as well.
