I need help.
Disclaimer --- If you suggest a youtube video, I won't watch it. I've done that...... a LOT. Literally HUNDREDS of videos watch and several hundred hours spent searching for videos to help myself. My problem is still not fixed, despite my exhaustive efforts to fix it myself. I'm here asking for help because youtube hasn't solved my problem in 3yrs. I'm done watching youtube videos. I'm asking for help here, not youtube. If you don't want to help, please scroll. I have blood cancer and it's not curable. I don't need stress. I don't want to argue with anyone. I'm asking for help. PLEASE help me. Or scroll.....
After2.5yrs of collecting dust...... I goofed with it for an hour and had it printing a small part. COOL!! Then I went to change the filament and all of a sudden the Z axis is 100mm off. It's literally 100mm off the bed and ready to print. It thinks the bed is right under it. I'm at a loss again. I have tried disconnecting both stepper motors on the Z axis and powered the machine on with the nozzle resting on 3 sheets of paper. Then plug in the motors and try to auto level it again. It's locked up in a loop and won't do anything. I left it running for 36hrs and it's stuck 100mm above the board -- "Ready to Print". I've turned it off and on. I've tried to find updated firmware, but not sure it's the right firmware (is it trusted?). The user interface is awful and severely lacking in functionality. I think it's actually missing menus. From my research, there's a couple different firmware updates, but I don't understand how to do that. I have to connect it to a com port on my desktop and use that to flash it with new firmware. There's no menu on the printer to accept the input from my computer. They can't see each other, so I can't push a firmware update to it.

I've had this thing (an $1,100) - thing) for almost 3yrs and haven't been able to get it running for more than 3 or 4 prints. I will admit that I got in over my head. I knew nothing about 3D printers and bought this with intentions to start a small business. I finally gave up in 2021/2022 and it's been collecting dust for 2.5yrs. There is not a single, comprehensive "How-To" anywhere. Sure, there are 1,000 videos but none tells you how to even start or where to begin after the rudimentary assembly instructions are followed.
I spoke to a friend and she suggested I buy a new modern "plug-n-play" machine and see if that would help me get my feet wet. She was right! I bought an FLSun Super Racer delta printer. After 35-40 minutes of assembly, 15 minutes of calibration and a benchy, it's been printing flawlessly for a week. I learned a few things and went back to the CR-10 Max with renewed hope. Maybe I could get this sucker running after all?
Now that the new delta printer is going, I'm really tempted to disassemble the Creality and box it up for a trip to eBay. I wanted to stop in here and give it one last try. Anybody got any ideas?
I'd be happy to do FB video messenger calls if someone wants to help in that fashion.
