Today I had a print running and left it whilst I went to play a gig, big mistake lol.
So I have had hotend blockages and many extruder 'plugs' but today was my 1st real hotend leak.
BOY what a leak the hotend was completely covered with molten PLA which threw an error shutting down the machine via an overheating issue. (no surprise there).
When I arrived home the PLA was of course hardened so I hat to pull the hotend completely out to be able to remove the CAKED on PLA but before I could do anything I had to break away as much as I could to be able to access the allen heads.
This was OK but the issue happened on the first layer so I then was faced with having the plate very very close to the nozzle making it impossible to lower the hotend down out of it's housing. I searched online to fine a method of Manually lowering the plate without any power (because the error locks you out of the screen to be able to move the plate). I decided to pull the bottom off the machine and it was easy enough to move the plate by manually manipulating the belt/s to move the plate.
I did a short video with the hope it helps someone else.
